ラテアート、別名コーヒーアートは、まさしくコーヒーを使ったアートで、エスプレッソコーヒーとミルクを使って、カップの表面にパターンやデザインを描くものです。ラテアートには二通りの技法があり、ひとつはミルクピッチャーから注がれるミルクの流れを使ってシンプルなパターンを描く「フリープア・ラテアート」、もうひとつは、匙や針を使って複雑なデザインを描く「エッチング」という技法です。近年、ラテアートの人気は高まり、毎年、バリスタたちが競うラテアートの世界大会も開催されるようになり、2010年には、日本人女性が初めてこの大会で優勝を果たしました。さらに、書店には素人向けにラテアートの教本が並び、趣味のひとつとしても親しまれているようです。もはや一杯のコーヒーは単なる飲み物ではなく、ラテアート・アーティストにとっては歴としたキャンバスなのです。Latte Art in Kanto Area (Japanese)

“Latte Art” is a style of art which exactly use coffee, so it is also called coffee art and created a pattern or design on the surface of latte by pouring steamed milk into a shot of espresso. There are 2 forms of Latte Art; one is called “Free pouring” which use only the flow of milk from a pitcher to create a simple design, the other is called “Etching” which is possible to create more complex patterns with a coffee stirrer. In recent years, Latte Art has been very popular and surprisingly World Latte Art Championship holds for baristas every year and Japanese woman took first place for the first time in 2010. There are also manual books about Latte Art for amateurs in book stores, so Latte Art may be a favorite as a hobby with some people.
